Muscat: The first edition of marketing outlets for the sale of Omani dates was launched yesterday in Oman Avenues Mall. As many as 40 farmers, producers, and owners of dates processing units from various governorates of the Sultanate took part in the event that will continue till October 31.
Engineer Hadia Bint Juma’a Al Balushi, Director of the Marketing and Agricultural Industries Department at the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, said: “The most important types of dates were presented, including Khalas dates, Al Dhahirah, Fard, Khenizi Berni, Handal Bunarenga, Khasab, straw, Umm Al Sala, Majhoul, Sukkari, Butter, Sagai and Hilali.”
She added that in these outlets, a range of transformative products will be displayed, such as dates with nuts, date juice, jam, vinegar and other products developed within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to continuously develop the agricultural sector, introduce the value of Omani dates, and encourage investment to increase local production, raise quality and work on marketing it.
