On the initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the famous French Chef Alain Ducasse, Goût de/Good France 2021 is once again celebrating French gastronomy through a series of events organized to support the entire sector.
By bringing together nearly 350,000 people all around the world to enjoy thousands of French-style dinners, Goût de/Good France proudly shares the values of French gastronomy.
This year, gastronomy will be celebrated as a historic symbol of the French art of living and excellence. This new edition has appointed the two-Michelin-star chef Christophe Hay as this year’s ambassador. He was recently named “Chef of the Year 2021” by the Gault & Millau restaurant guide in recognition of his commitment to local, sustainable and inclusive gastronomy.
Following the unprecedented health crisis which dominated 2020 and forced food industry stakeholders to constantly reinvent themselves for several months, now is a time for resilience, an eagerly-awaited time for renaissance to celebrate together the new face of gastronomy.
This sixth edition is marked by the tenth anniversary of the Gastronomic Meal of the French on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.
A new highlight for 2021, Goût de/Good France is back in the Sultanate of Oman and all around the world to help the profession in its sustainable transition and support Chefs in their new role as ambassadors for more eco-friendly gastronomy, both from a human standpoint as well as regarding health, the environment and taste education.
A celebration of the best of the food sector, the event in the Sultanate Oman will have the honour of showcasing French food throughout the country. Patronized and coordinated by the French Embassy, this new edition will mobilize Chefs from all over the country to prepare and serve “French-style” meals from 2nd to 12th November in restaurants participating and at the Residence of the French Ambassador, Ms. Véronique Aulagnon. The event aims to promote the French culinary heritage at international level, both in terms of its uniqueness and its diversity.
The events organized in the Sultanate of Oman from the 2nd to 12th of November will provide an experience of local, sustainable and eco-friendly art of living in France, drawing on all its history and resources. With local produce, producers, a friendly atmosphere, a sharing mentality, ethical restaurants, knowledge-sharing and taste education, 2021 will be seen as a “renaissance” for food.
The gastronomical events will involve many prominent actors of the tourism and food industry in Oman and the visitor will have the pleasure to taste and appreciate French cuisine at his best. The whole agenda of the events will be published on the French Embassy’s Facebook page.
