Oman national football team arrived in Dubai on Wednesday ahead of the crucial encounter against China on coming Thursday in Sharjah city, UAE.
The team is gearing up for the fifth fixture in the Asian qualifiers – Road to Qatar 2022 for group B and eying the winning points to raise the chances of securing direct tickets to the World Cup for the first time in history.
China’s fixture will be followed with another tough encounter against Asian heavyweight Japan on Nov 16 in Muscat.
The Red Warriors ended the last internal training session on Tuesday at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The warm up sessions were attended by OFA chairman and board members. The Sultanate of Oman players are under good enthusiasm after the victory against Vietnam 3-1 in Muscat last month. The head coach of the team, Branko Ivankovic, focused on different tactical and technical sides and prepared the players with mixture of attacking, defensive techniques ahead of the significant forthcoming clashes.
After completion of fourth round, the team is positioned in third place and possesses six points while Saudi Arabia is leading the group by 12 points. Australia is placed second and have nine points. Japan’s credit is six points while China have three points in the fifth position and Vietnam is in the last place without any point.
The Croatian coach Branko Ivankovic was very keen during the previous weeks to attend different rounds of domestic top tier league.
The coach and his assisting technical staff presented different matches around the Sultanate of Oman.
The 67 years old selected 25 players for Dubai camp which included: Harib al Saadi, Salah al Yahyaei, Arshad al Alawi, Ahmed al Rawahi, Amjad al Harthi, Juma al Habsi, Abdulaziz al Maqbali, Ali al Busaidi, Al Mundher al Alawi, Khalid al Buraiki, Fahmi Said, Ibrahim Saleh, Khalid al Hajri, Abdullah Fawaz, Motaz Saleh, Essam al Subhi, Ahmed al Khamisi, Omar al Fazari, Ahmed al Kaabi, Mohammed al Ghafri, Mohsin Jawher, Fayez al Rushaidi, Zaher al Aghbari, Jameel al Yahmadi and Mahmood al Mushaifri.
