Muscat: Her Highness the Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman, on Sunday presided over the inaugural ceremony of a rural women’s product funding programme codenamed “Reefy”.
Held at the House of Musical Arts in Muscat, the ceremony was attended by senior dignitaries and officials.
Reefy is the outcome of a successful partnership between Oman Development Bank (ODB) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The project seeks to encourage entrepreneurship among women in the countryside in different governorates of Oman.
It will empower women operating in the production, manufacturing and marketing of local produce.
The programme will promote women’s role in developing the economy of rural society, improve family income and upgrade the economic status of the local community.
The ceremony saw the presentation of a visual display on the financial product /Reefy/, along with success stories about inspirational young women.
HH the Honourable Lady toured an exhibition held on the sidelines of the launch ceremony and reviewed leading models about rural projects and products.
She listened to a briefing about the exhibits and hailed women’s initiatives in this field.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, HH Assayida Ahd accepted a souvenir gift presented by the Executive President of the ODB. –ONA
