Tehran: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), called for the cooperation of public and private health institutions to position medical tourism in Islamic countries in its suitable place on the world tourism map.
The statement was made during Oman’s participation in the 5th International Conference on Health in Islamic Countries, hosted by the Iranian capital, Tehran from 7 till 9 November 2021.
Oman affirmed that transforming medical tourism from individual health services into an industry and a source for economic diversification, requires the cooperation of private medical institutions to provide high-quality services with competitive costs.
Eng Ridha Juma al Saleh, OCCI Chairman said that Oman aims to attract investments in the medical sector from the Islamic Republic of Iran and other Islamic countries.
Several working papers were presented during the conference.
The papers focused on many topics, such as sports tourism and the role of travel agencies in promoting such tourism in Islamic countries. –ONA
