Shahid's all-round show helps Douglas OHI score big win over Maniz Azad

Muscat: An all-round performance by Shahid Mehmood Walayat helped steer Douglas OHI to a massive win over Maniz Azad International in the B Division match of the Oman Cricket League.

Shahid Mehmood played a swashbuckling innings to score 79 runs in 44 balls, studded with three sixes and seven boundaries, and later scalped three wickets to script the big win for his team.

Put into bat after losing the toss, Douglas OHI scored 217 for the loss of nine wickets in 29 overs. Shahid was the mainstay of the innings and was ably supported by Chintan Kamlesh Gohel who scored 68 off 60 deliveries. Tahir Ali and Shoaib Mohammed took three wickets apiece for Maniz Azad.

In reply, Maniz Azad were bundled out for 168 in 26.2 overs, with Shuaib Ismail Al Balushi top scoring with 38 runs. Murtaza Shah, Shahid Mehmood and Shamsudheen Shareef picked up three wickets each.

Brief Scores – Douglas OHI 217/9 in 29 Overs (Shahid Mehmood Walayat 79(44) – 7×4, 3×6, Chintan Kamlesh Gohel 68(60) 7×4 ; Tahir Ali 46/3, Shoaib Mohammed 12/3) won against Maniz Azad International 168/10 in 26.2 Overs (Shuaib Ismail Al Balushi 38(35) – 6×4 ; 5 Murtaza Shah 29/3, Shahid Mehmood Walayat 27/3, Shamsudheen Shareef 24/3) by 49 runs.

In another Division C match, Khalsa United CT brushed aside Al Waad Trad & Contracting Enterprises by six wickets. Batting first Al Waad scored 165 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs, with Sidhi Suman top scoring with 48 off 25 balls.

In reply, Khalsa United knocked off the target in 16.4 overs, with Sajid Ali leading the chase, scoring 58 off 35 balls, and ably supported by Umar Muhammad scoring 53 off 35 deliveries.

Brief Scores – Al Waad Trad & Contracting Enterprises 165/5 in 20 overs (Sidhi Suman 48 (25) 5×4, 2×6; Sajid Ali 26/1) lost against Khalsa United CT 168/4 in 16.4 Overs (Sajid Ali 58(35) 9×4, Umar Muhammad 53(35) 6×4 ; Mhd Ehtisham Kamran – 19/2) by 6 wickets.

In another low-scoring match of D Division, Mazoon UP got the better of Oct Al Mabela by five wickets. Batting first Oct Al Mabela scored an under-par 97 all-out in 20 overs with Nadeer Kunninu being the wrecker-in-chief with two wickets for 15 runs.

In reply, Mazoon breezed to the target in 14.2 oves, with Nadeer Kunninu shining with the willow, scoring 31 runs.

Brief Scores –Oct Al Mabela 97 all out in 20 overs (Shabir Ahmed Al Balushi 29(32) 3×4; Nadeer Kunninu Thaye Kunninu – 15/2) lost against Mazoon UP 99/5 in 14.2 Overs (Nadeer Kunninu Thaye Kunninu 31(29) 6×4, Shareef Al Balushi – 23/3) by 5 wickets.

In a D Division match, Global Corp Logistics had a closely-fought 14 run win against Danmark CC. Batting first Global Corp Logistics scored 155 for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Giridharan Vyrawamoorthy high scored with 35, while Sankarlal Sasidharan shined with the ball, scalping four wickets.

In reply, Danmark CC came close, but fell short of the target by 14 runs with five balls to spare. Mohammed Aadil was the top scorer with 29 runs, while Ummer Mahmood took three wickets for Global Corp.

Brief Scores – Global Corp Logistics 155/8 in 20 overs (Giridharan Vyrawamoorthy 35(29) 3×4; Sankarlal Sasidharan – 31/4) won against Danmark CC 141/10 in 19.1 Overs (Mohammed Aadil 29(42) 6×4, Ummer Mahmood – 35/3) by 14 runs.
