Specialised veterinarians examined the camels and took the necessary samples.
Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources with the help of Sultan Qaboos University and the Veterinary Services at the Affairs of the Royal Court, completed procedures to investigate the causes of sudden camel deaths in the Dhofar Governorate.
The team of specialised veterinarians examined the camels and took the necessary samples of fodder, water and blood for laboratory analysis.
The team also dissected a number of infected camels that were donated by the citizens of the area to conduct further research and investigation into the causes that led to the death of the camels.
The team urged the camel breeders to take help of veterinary clinics in the event of any disease symptoms being observed on the animal. They stressed the importance of following the veterinarians’ instructions on the optimal use of medicines, isolating sick animals from healthy ones, and purchasing feed from reliable and well-known sources, taking into account the nutritional needs of each category of animals, according to age and physiological status.
