Muscat: An agreement of cooperation was signed to train job seekers from Social Security and Limited-income Families between the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Social Development, the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) and Oman Education and Training Investments (OETI).
The target group will be trained and prepared to start productive industrial projects as small and medium enterprises. The agreement aims to increase the growth of industrial indices and to promote the contribution of the industrial sector in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
It also aims to prioritize future skills in the industrial sector in accordance with Oman Vision 2040.
The agreement was signed by Sayyid Salim Musallam al Busaidi, the Ministry of Labour’s Undersecretary for Human Resources Development, Shaikh Rashid Ahmed al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, Qais Rashid al Tobi, Acting Vice President of ASMED and Hassan Ehssan Nassib, Chairman of OETI’s Board of Directors.
The role of ASMED in this agreement involves following-up the establishment and implementation of those projects and assuring their sustainability.
It will also contribute in promoting and marketing them, as well as providing guidance and technical support. –ONA
