Doha: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, accompanied by HH Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar visited Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development here as part of His Majesty’s visit to Qatar.
His Majesty the Sultan listened to a briefing about the objectives of Qatar Foundation and its role in promoting education, research, community development, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Qatar Foundation houses branches of international universities and hosts programmes of cooperation with educational establishments in the Sultanate of Oman.
His Majesty and Shaikh Tamim toured the venues of world universities, research centres and academic facilities affiliated to Qatar Foundation. Later, His Majesty the Sultan and Sheikh Tamim visited Qatar National Library.
They were briefed about the main functions of the edifice, which comprises a wide range of sources, reference books, manuscripts and archives serving researchers and students reading in different disciplines.
His Majesty the Sultan accepted a souvenir commemorating his Royal visit to the National Library and Research Centre.
At the conclusion of the tour, His Majesty the Sultan signed the Visitors’ Register, hailing the efforts of Qatar, led by Shaikh Tamim, in upgrading education, innovation and community development.
His Majesty the Sultan was accompanied during the two visits by the Head and members of Mission of Honour and members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty. –ONA
