Doing simple science experiments at home or in your classroom is the easiest way to teach kids to be problem solvers and critical thinkers and help them develop a curiosity about the world around them. These skills empower kids to be confident in their ability to handle life’s challenges which is a life skill that cannot be overrated!
Hamdoon al Rashdi (@Edison Omani) is a 23 years old science lover who have always loved sciences since he was a child. He payed a particular attention to technology and experiments of electronics in his free time. Gradually, he started introducing himself to the public in the social media, where he started with a series of (how to make?), which grasped the attention of fans of science and children in particular.
“I’m not happy just accepting things, I want to know why! Science gives me the why! then poses even more questions that need answering. It’s not a subject that stops, no one will ever know everything about Science. As our understanding of life, the universe and everything deepens, we realise that there is even more we don’t understand. That unlimited potential is exciting… that’s why I find science so amazing”, said Hamdoon.
‘Science is all around us and the fascinating part of teaching Science is sharing knowledge and ideas with people. Experiments and Scientific models allow students to understand some of the tricky concepts as I conducted many workshops for students in colleges, the Children’s Museum and schools’.
Giving the information in a simple interesting way is the main focus of Edison Omani. The majority of his followers in the social media means are children and other fans. However, the entire concept is to deliver the information to all age categories.
Hamdoon believes that when you start in this field, you will not finish. One experiment leads you to the other. “I love that science allows you to be ambitious, stretching yourself to ask the questions “what would happen if…?”, “why does that …?” Science is daring, it allows us to debate the ethics of whether we should do something just because we can. You can readily relate new science to your lessons and grasp the interest of our future scientists”.
My friends and I formed a group Tech_cover and we participated in a contest to make a phone cover that is connected with the phone via an application that allows you to change the color of the cover and the picture on it. However, Hamdoon regrets that this project couldn’t see light until now. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t continue due to the high costs and the advanced technologies”.
