Muscat: The Office of Majlis Ash’shura on Tuesday discussed the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning’s response to Majlis Ash’shura’s report about waiving home loan installments of borrowers.

In his response, the minister said that the Ministry had waived loans amounting RO 13.5 million for a total of 731 citizens. This came during the Office’s fifth regular of the third annual sitting held under Khalid bin Hilal al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’Shura, in the presence of the Council’s Secretary General and its members.

The Office also discussed the proposal of amending the second item of the Unified System of Extending Insurance Protection to GCC Military Personnel. The members reviewed additionally the Minister of Labour’s response to the request revolving around the issue of job seekers holding educational qualification degrees.

The meeting highlighted the requests submitted by the Office’s members to the Minister of Education on the partnership between the ministry and the private sector, particularly the partnership existing between the ministry and the sector, justifications of any kind of changes and alternatives.

At the regular meeting, the Office also discussed the request submitted to the Chairman of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-Up Unit regarding the priority of education, learning scientific research and national capabilities in Oman Vision 2040.

The Office also highlighted the report submitted to the Chairman of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) on legalising digital transactions in the Sultanate of Oman and discussed the CBO’s plan in legalising Blockchain in light of the technical advancement of digital transactions.

In its meeting, the Office reviewed the report on the increasing number of resignations among the medical staff.
