Automobile fuel production rises by 6% in Oman

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s refineries recorded an increase in the production of automobile fuel until the end of October 2021 by 6 per cent, compared to the same period of 2020, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Of the total production, sales of petrol (M-95) stood at 10,605,600 barrels, an increase of 14 per cent, while its exports stood at 1,422,200 barrels, comprising a rise of 0.4 per cent, compared to the same period in 2020.

The production of standard grade petrol (M-91) by Omani refineries stood at 11,188,900 barrels comprising a rise of 40 per cent till the end of October 2021, compared to the same period in 2020. Domestic sales of petrol (M-91) stood at 7,280,800 barrels, a 12 per cent increase, while its exports reached 3,973,200 barrels, a rise of 38 per cent, compared to the same period in 2020.

Gas oil (diesel) output increased by 4 per cent to 29,773,800 barrels. Domestic sales of diesel stood at 11,142,600, a rise of 0.3 per cent, and its exports reached 18,437,500, an increase by 6 per cent, compared to the same period in 2020.

Aviation fuel oil production fell by 24 per cent to 4,753,600 barrels at the end of October 2021, compared to the same period in 2020. Its domestic sales declined by 17 per cent to 1,233,600 barrels. Exports of aviation fuel also dropped by 27 per cent to 3,549,300 barrels.

Production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) increased by 17 per cent to 6,043,500 barrels until the end of October 2021. Its domestic sales increased by 162 per cent to 5,959,500 barrels. Of the total production, exports of LPG reached 392,200 barrels, a decline of 88 per cent.

As far as petrochemicals are concerned, benzene production increased by 18 per cent, compared to October 2020 to reach 183,200 metric tonnes, while its exports stood at 183,800 metric tonnes.

The output of paraxylene stood at 471,400 metric tonnes, while its exports reached 478,300 metric tonnes.

Production of polypropylene stood at 177,700 metric tonnes, comprising a decline of 9 per cent. Its domestic sales increased by 24 per cent to stand at 36,500 metric tonnes. Its exports reached 130,100 metric tonnes, a decline of 11 per cent.
