The first agreement is for the purchase of cancer detection devices for the Royal Hospital in Muscat, while the second agreement is for supply of Complete Blood Count (CBC) devices for 5 different health centres in the North Sharqiyah Governorate.
Muscat: The Ministry of Health has signed two funding agreements with Oman LNG for purchase of advanced medical equipment. The equipment purchased under the agreements are expected to further boost preventive healthcare in the Sultanate.
The first agreement is for the purchase of cancer detection devices for the Royal Hospital in Muscat, while the second agreement is for supply of Complete Blood Count (CBC) devices for 5 different health centres in the North Sharqiyah Governorate.
The cancer detection devices will allow seamless and early diagnosis, intervention and treatment of cancer; which would ultimately reduce its severity. In addition, the they will help improve the quality of life for patients and provide a cost-saving, simple and fast alternative to other expensive detection alternatives.
Similarly, the Complete Blood Count (CBC) devices will facilitate fast and easy detection of different diseases, allowing patients to explore preventive methods early on. These devices will also help to evaluate the overall health of patients with a focus on blood conditions.
According to Dr. Fatima Al-Ajmi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs the agreements exemplify how cooperation between the private and public sectors is essential for public interest.
“Not only are we seeking to raise awareness on preventive treatment through these agreements, but we are also aiming to encourage people to seek early detection of illnesses and adopt healthier lifestyles,” she said while expressing her “great pleasure to extend our hands to Oman LNG and cooperate to serve the nation.”
Dr. Amor Al Matani, CEO of Oman LNG Development Foundation, talked about the many support initiatives of the company. “Thanks to our strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health, we have been successful in delivering many projects across the country.
“Since inception, Oman LNG has shown a great interest in supporting many development sectors through our robust social investment programme; in which the medical sectors has been always in a top priority.
“We strive to ensure the provision and introducing necessary medical equipment and tools to the health institutions,” he said expressing his delight on collaborating with the Ministry of Health in the journey towards boosting the health sector in the country.
