Muscat: The Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry ((OCCI) approved the establishment of a joint Omani-Bahraini company and decided to provide RO5,000 annually for the Made in Oman campaign.
The meeting reviewed the conditions of the private sector in light of the current circumstances and the decisions issued by the government related to the private sector, stressing that the chamber is currently preparing a study of the fees imposed on the private sector and comparing them with those in other Gulf countries.
OCCI will present a number of proposals necessary to strengthen the economy and empower the private sector, submit them to the concerned authorities and request a meeting with officials.
The board approved the establishment of a joint Omani-Bahraini company with a capital of RO10 million with the participation of the chambers of both countries.
It stressed the importance of supporting, developing, and expanding the presence of Omani products by helping it to compete locally, regionally, and internationally, by supporting the Made in Oman campaign with an annual amount of 5,000. A bank account will be opened for this purpose.
The chamber discussed the importance of creating an integrated center for exhibitions and conferences in the Governorate of Dhofar, provided that a public tender is issued to provide studies and consultations for the project.
