MoHUP to roll out tenders for investment in new Liwa city

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning will shortly roll out 9 investment sites on the basis of usufruct rights in the new Liwa city in North Al Batinah Governorate.

The move comes within the framework of the government’s efforts to boost the national economy and enhance logistics support to investment projects and in line with the ministry’s initiatives to reinvigorate the real estate sector and economic activities in the governorate.

The initiative also aims to meet the requirements of population and economic growth to meet the growing demand for commercial and industrial real estate units, and to help the private sector attract investments in the governorates which contribute to the development of integrated and sustainable urban communities.

The land plots, measuring between 1,000 sq metres and 5,000 sq metres, will be earmarked for governmental, commercial, residential and industrial purposes. The land plots will be put out to tenders on a usufruct basis according to certain conditions and specifications including that the bidder should be an Omani not older than 23 years of age or a company that has no less than 30 per cent Omani or GCC citizens as shareholders. Bids can be registered online on the Real Estate Service Centre website using ID number and commercial register number.

The new residential city in Liwa occupies 8 sq km and is located close to Al Batinah Expressway. It contains between 2,500 and 3,000 residential units complete with services and public utilities and has a capacity to accommodate 30,000 people. It has 13 mosques, 8 schools, a health centre and a road network — ONA
