NIZWA: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has organised a ceremony to honour the former specialised committees of the Board of Directors. It was held under the auspices of Shaikh Rashid bin Said al Kalbani, Wali of Nizwa.
Speaking on the occasion, Eng Hamad bin Said al Rabkhi, Chairman of the OCCI in Al Dakhiliyah, said the ceremony was being held to commend the committees on their dedicated efforts. It was distinguished by the participatory work between the branch committees and the board of directors of the OCCI Al Dakhiliyah branch. This enabled the OCCI to play its role as an official representative and sponsor of the private sector, despite the exceptional circumstances experienced by the national economy and the business sector.
He said: “The work of the Board of Directors of the OCCI and the temporary committees during this period came in line with the development goals set and envisioned by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. It has been framed in the future vision (Oman 2040) with a view to strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors. And the private sector is seen as a major driver of a diversified and sustainable economy while working to achieve a balanced development of the governorate.”
Al Rabhi added: “The committees have made efforts to advance the economy of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate by studying the economic and investment components and advantages, then working to promote the available investment opportunities, and holding meetings with business owners in various economic sectors. Moreover, they discussed the challenges faced by companies and found appropriate solutions to them.
“The Board of Directors of the OCCI has been keen, since assuming responsibility, on dealing with various issues of the private sector, besides providing more opportunities for the business and investment environment. It also tried to restore the activity and growth of companies and institutions in addition to enabling cooperation between the public and private sectors to improve performance levels,” he said.
In the unusual circumstances existing due to Covid-19, the Chamber had an active role in mobilising RO 1 million to support the efforts of the Ministry of Health in combating the pandemic. It also contributed RO 1 million to the Job Security Fund. It also signed cooperation and partnership agreements, amounting to nearly RO 7 million.
Shaikh Rashid bin Said al Kalbani gave away gifts to 80 people from the committees, supporters of various activities of the branch and those who excelled in their work.
