MUSCAT: In line with its pioneering role in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Bank Muscat has launched the 2022 edition of its flagship CSR programme, Green Sports, on January 5, and invited all local sports teams who would like to apply for the programme to do so well before the deadline which will be on February 2. As part of improving the inclusivity and the reach of the programme, the bank will be accepting all applications digitally. For more information and to submit applications, teams should go to: https://www.bankmuscat.com/greensports/ and complete the application form electronically using a computer, a tablet or a mobile phone.

Speaking about the launch of the 2022 edition, Talib Saif al Makhmari, Manager, Community & Media Relations, Bank Muscat, said: “As one of the pioneers of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Oman, Bank Muscat has always been committed to creating meaningful change for the good of society. Green Sports has been going from strength to strength over the years with the bank supporting the development of 143 Green Sports fields across different governorates in the Sultanate. We would like to encourage all teams who would like to apply for support to submit their applications through the specified link ahead of the deadline.”

Bank Muscat is proud of the success and achievements of its CSR programs, which draws from the values of leadership and partnership so as to create a positive impact on Omani society. The Green Sports initiative, which was launched by Bank Muscat in 2012 has supported 143 sports teams across Oman till date. The scope of Green Sports support for sports teams include greening of football fields with natural or synthetic turf, floodlights or water desalination equipment in areas facing problems of water salinity. Ensuring wider representation, the Green Sports programme extends to develop sustainable sports infrastructure in all parts of the Sultanate. Also, the facilities developed as part of the programme are often used as a venue for other social activities, leading to stronger community bonding and greater positive behaviour among young people. In case of any queries or doubts, teams may email [email protected].

It must be noted that the bank’s CSR and sustainability programmes have been well appreciated and received a number of accolades. The bank was recently honoured by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its efforts in supporting persons with disabilities. Earlier in 2021, the bank also won the Middle East Sustainability Award from EMEA Finance as a recognition of its stellar efforts in the field of sustainability and CSR.
