MUSCAT: Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and his accompanying delegation, visited Saudi Arabian Mining Company, to review its experience in managing the mining sector, on Wednesday.
The delegation reviewed a number of topics related to environmental issues and was acquainted with the roles undertaken by the company in environmental protection since its inception. They discussed the company’s most prominent roles in environmental projects such as the replantation of original trees which embodies the company’s attention to environmental preservation.
The chairman of the Environment Authority stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of environmental preservation, health and safety of mines, environmental rehabilitation and environmental programmes to address the environmental impacts of mining projects in balance with supporting the national economy.
He underscored the importance of adherence to the local and international standards in mining activities and the need for a protected environment that achieves a balance between environmental, economic and social requirements in line with the Oman Vision 2040 which addressed the issue of environmental protection and the preservation of natural resources.
