SalamAir plans flights to Masirah, Duqm

The Sultanate-based Salam Air has submitted a request to the concerned authorities in the Sultanate of Oman for approval to operate domestic flights to Duqm in the Al Wusta Governorate and to Masirah in the South Sharqiyah Governorate, according to Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of SalamAir.

He said the volume of operations at SalamAir has begun to gradually improve, as the company was able in 2021 to transport more than one million passengers, with a load factor of 71, in 9,200 flights.

“The new plane, which can accommodate 212 passengers and is equipped with luxurious seats will contribute to achieving the company’s expansion plan during the next summer, especially as the company seeks to inaugurate more new stations in Eastern Europe, Central Asian countries, and Turkey,” the CEO said.

He said the new stations will include Baku, Azerbaijan, Sarajevo in addition to “Osh” and “Bishkek” stations in Kyrgyzstan and Trabzon in Turkey, which continue throughout the year.

The company is also in the process of studying adding a third station in Turkey and another in Eastern Europe, which will be announced soon.

The company will seek to attract more tourists to the Sultanate of Oman to contribute to supporting the national economy as per Vision 2040.

“SalamAir was the was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, just like the rest of the airlines, but the company was able to change the method of its operations in line with the changes in the aviation market by operating charter flights and opening new stations, which helped not only reduce losses but also achieve profits.”

As the company marks its 5thanniversary, Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of SalamAir, said: “January 30, 2022, marks a new chapter in the history of SalamAir, as we celebrate five years of glorious presence in the industry and drive our mission to uphold the spirit of Oman by delivering services that reflect the legendary hospitality of the country.”
