Duqm port will be an important point to attract major international investments, especially in the logistics sector
Duqm: A number of officials and businessmen have stressed the economic importance of Duqm Port to attract major investments to the Special Economic Zone, as it is located strategically between the east and west markets.
Dr. Salem bin Salim Al Junaibi, Vice President of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Al Wusta Governorate Branch, said that Duqm Port is an important economic centre in the SEZD investments, due to its geographical location that links international shipping lines between East Asian and African markets. And by virtue of what it contains of various berths, including government, commercial and oil, which qualifies it to receive the largest container ships, goods, oil tankers and petrochemicals, and makes it a strategic transit point for goods between the markets of East and West.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, he added that the port will be an important point to attract major international investments, especially in the logistics sector, and the port is a catalyst for the establishment of multiple industries and logistic services in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
