Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development (MOSD) said that it received 326 requests for approval of marriages between citizens and foreigners in three months.
The Governorate of North Batinah topped the number of applications (97), followed by Muscat Governorate (83), Dhofar Governorate (35), South Al Batinah (28), Al Dakhiliyah (27), Al Dhahirah (18), North al Sharqiya (12), Al Buraimi (11), South al Sharqiyah (10), Musandam (4) and Al Wusta Governorate (1)
The ministry said 52 applications were canncelled, 115 applications were from single men and 12 applications from single women.
The number of applications from divorced men were 106 while 5 were from divorced female. One application was from a widow.
The age group 20 – 29 years accounted for 28 requests, the age group 30 to 39 (75 requests), the group 40 to 49 (107 requests), the age group 50 to 59 years (44 requests), the age group 60 to 69 years (48 applications) and the age group of 70 and above (24).
