BARKA: Al Nadi Shabab-B won the inaugural edition of the knockout tournament at Al Shabab club in Barka on February 18.
The tournament was played day/night where the grand finale was played under flood lights. Total of eight teams participated in the tournament and Al Nadi Shadab-B emerged champions by defeating Al Nadi Shabab-A with a close margin.
In an exciting final, Al Nadi Shabab-A won the toss and decided to bat first. They could only muster 30 runs in the alloted 5 overs, hence setting a target of 31 runs. Chasing the modest total, Al Nadi Shabab-B held their nerves to chase the target on the last ball of the match to win the final. Wasim was selected as the Man of the Final.
Hafiz Rana of Al Shabab-A was declared as the best batsmen of the tournament, while Pradip and Salman was adjudged best bowler and best fielder of the tournament respectively.
The final of the tournament was witnessed by Club President Ahmed al Awaisi and Majid al Balushi, the board members of Al Shabab Club-Barka. Also they presided over as the cheif guests for the evening and presented the trophies to both the captains and teams.
Organiser of this tournament Rehmat Ali also thanked the chief guests and all participating teams for their valuable support in successfully completing the tournament.
