MUSCAT: Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, received Dr Issa bin Hassan al Ansari, President of Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU), and his accompanying delegation, on Saturday.
The minister welcomed the delegation and briefed them about the educational institutions in the Sultanate of Oman.
Dr Al Ansari presented an historic overview of the establishment of the university explaining the most prominent principles, values and policies on which the university is based, as well as the international and regional partnerships linked to the university. He explained the most prominent academic, research and societal achievements of PMU.
The two sides discussed fields of joint cooperation between the ministry and PMU.
The minister pointed to the ministry’s interest in benefiting from the university’s experience in the field of foresight studies, artificial intelligence and cyber security and attracting international students, managing endowment institutions and upgrading international rankings. The minister gave directives to set up a joint committee between the ministry and PMU to exchange experiences in various research and academic fields, and to measure the possibility of establishing joint funding sources to serve research studies in both countries.
