Muscat: The competition for the ten projects that have qualified from the initial stages to the finals of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design will kick off today at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
Detailed presentations
The participants will deliver, in two days, detailed presentations of their projects before the Arbitration Committee. The presentations will cover, in detail, all the technical and engineering aspects of the projects.
The Office of the Award announced earlier that it received 356 projects presented by Omani youth, of which ten projects earned qualification for the current stage.
These projects include five submitted by individuals, and five submitted by groups totalling 14 participants, bringing the total to 19 participants.
Five individuals
The five individuals who qualified to the current stage are Buthaina bint Ta’ia bin Jandal, Ammar Abdulhamid Al Kiyumi, Mohammed bin Qais Al Asfour, Nasser bin Salam Al Haimali and Tahirah bint Mohammed Al Busaifi.
The first team comprises of Humaida bint Sulaiman Al Azri and Rafia bint Ibrahim Al Bahlani, the second team features Hafsa bint Mohammed Al Balushi, Reem bint Rashid Al Hashmi and Shaza bint Abdullah Al Saifi; the third team has Isra bint Hamood Al Hinai, Kawthar bint Ibrahim Al Lawati and Maryam bint Zakariya Al Kindi, the fourth team is made up of Kawthar bint Nasser Al Azri, Fatima bint Abdullah Al Balushi and Amal bint Salim Al Zawawi, while the fifth team involves Umaima bint Mahmoud Al Hinai, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jahdhami and Abdullah bin Saleh Al Bahri.
Out of all the participants who have qualified, the top three winners will be crowned on 15 March.
