Muscat: The Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in cooperation with the relevant government agencies, has determined appropriate sites for the production of renewable energy such as wind and solar energy, and directed them to produce green hydrogen.
In an interview with Oman News Agency, an official said that renewable energy concession areas are likely to start from Duqm in the south to Al Shuwaymiyah in the Wilayat of Shaleem and the Al Halaniyat Islands, to the Wilayat of Thumrait.
He added, “It is expected that the first concession or production sites will be launched before the end of this year, in line with the activities of the hydrogen symposium that will be held in November or December.”
Recently, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik directed on accelerating the procedures for establishing and regulating the green hydrogen sector and adding a general directorate to this important file in the Ministry of Energy and Mining.
