Titled ‘Tradition and modernity’, the fourth edition of the event will highlight France’s activities in Oman.
Muscat: The Embassy of France in Oman will organise the fourth edition of ‘French Week’, from March 20 to March 27. The event, launched in 2017, is dedicated to the promotion of France in Oman in all its dimensions: Language, culture, research and economy.
Titled ‘Tradition and modernity’, the fourth edition of the event will highlight France’s activities in Oman, including promotion of a better understanding of the Omani archaeological heritage and the French language and culture and also extend digital innovations.
The programme at the French-Omani Centre will include the inauguration of a new digital space (guests by invitation only) at 7 :30 pm on March 20, to mark the international day of Francophonie.
The National Museum will host a conference titled, ‘ Oman : An archaeological paradise’ in the morning of March 22. It will throw light on the discoveries made by the French teams with the support of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the French Research Centre of the Arabian Peninsula (free entrance by registration: [email protected]; [email protected]).
The National Museum will also organise an exhibition of the French Museum of Natural History about the Neanderthal man (free entrance) from March 22 to 27.
A show is to be hosted by the French-Tunisian singer DorsafHamdani, as a tribute to Fairouz and the French world-renowned singer, Barbara (invitation only) at the Crown Plaza Qurum Hotel at 8 :30 pm on March 23.
From 8 :00 am to 2 :00 pm on March 24, an economic conference on digital innovations will be held that will allow the visitors to discover the best of not only the ‘French Tech’, but also ‘Omani Tech’ at the Crown Plaza Qurum Hotel (invitation only).
‘Open house’, virtual reality sessions in the new digital space, will be organised at the French-Omani Centre on March 26 (free entrance, registration for the sessions with the French-Omani Centre).
Short films will be screened at the French-Omani Centre on March 15 and 17 (screening at 5.30 pm on March 15 for children over 12 and 3.30 pm on March 17 for children aged 7 to 10).
School competitions on French language will also be organied, the details of which can be known on the French-Omani Centre’s website.
From 9.00 am to 2.00 pm on March 19, ‘Open Day’ will be organised at the French high school of Muscat, with culinary stands and activities for children (free entrance and catering).
