Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Wednesday said that an economic zone will be established in Al-Rawdah District, Al Buraimi Governorate, and in the coming days, several senior officials would visit the area to determine a location.
Oman TV, reporting on an audience granted by His Majesty to a number of sheikhs of the governorates of North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi in Bait Bahjat Al Anwar in the Wilayat of Sohar, said that upcoming meetings of this type will include businessmen from the private sector, intellectuals and academics.
His Majesty also spoke on the role of Oman as an oil exporter and said that the rise in oil and energy prices to record numbers was a comfortable situation for Oman, but he pointed out that at the same time the prices of commodities and goods would also rise. His Majesty said that prices are regulated for basic commodities in the Sultanate of Oman.
His Majesty also said that the recent reduction in various fees would help the private sector, especially start-up companies.
On hospitals, His Majesty said that Al-Suwaiq Hospital is under construction, and Sohar Hospital is finished, and the rest of the other hospitals are either on the way to construction or completion.
