Indian schools go 100% offline after two years

Muscat: All Indian Schools in Oman started full-fledged onsite or offline classes after a gap of two years on April 6.

“Children from Kindergarten to Class 12 were excited about their first day in school and the schools were decked up to receive them adhering to all COVID protocols, ” a statement from the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman said.

The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted education at an unprecedented scale, with education systems being impacted by extended school closures. The Schools are equipped to overcome the learning loss caused during the pandemic by implementing remedial measures to recover from the crisis and thereby strengthening the resilience of the education system, it added.

“The schools will make efforts to include plans to engage the parent community, provide required resources for the healthy and safe school environment. There will be a specific action plan to recover learning loss due to remote teaching,” said Dr. Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman

With daily Covid-19 cases showing a steady decline and recovery rate gradually improving, the Supreme Committee on Covid-19 in March decided to follow the policy of co-existing with Covid as in the rest of the world.

With schools shut down for the most part of the last two years, teachers and students resorted to virtual classrooms or online classes.
