MUSCAT: As many as 100 paddlers took part at Salalah Club Table Tennis tournament in its first edition which concluded recently under the auspices of Mohammed bin Humaid al Kalbani, Director General of Social Development in the Governorate of Dhofar, in presence of Salalah club Chairman.
The seven days event featured four competitions represented in cadets, juniors and senior competitions. Three matches were held in the tournament finals. In the first match of the cadet’s competition, Bader al Shanfari played against Ali al Awadi. Al Awadi was the champion after defeating his opponent with a score of two sets, compared to a set by Badr al Shanfari, who finished as runner up, while Omar al Ashry won the third place award.
In the second match that brought together Ali al Awadi with Ahmed Baowain in the final of the junior competition, Al Awadi was able to win by 2-0 while Ahmed Baowain came in second place and Yousuf Bait Obaid took third place award.
In the last match on the Singles of the senior category, Hossam Shalaby managed to win the championship title after defeating Walid Jaaboub in the final match. Saeed Fadel came in third place.
