Met warns of heavy rains, thunderstorms

Muscat: Omani Meteorology has reported the possibility of scattered rains and thunderstorms in several areas of the governorates of North and South al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, and Al Dakhiliyah, accompanied by active downward winds and hail.

Authorities have urged people to take precuations during thunderstorms.

The warnings are as follows. Ibra (thunderstorm), Bahla (thunderstorm), Shinas (thunderstorm), Mhada (thunderstorm), Bukha (thunderstorm), Rustaq (thunderstorm), Ibri (thunderstorm), Saiq (thunderstorm), Sunaynah (thunderstorm), Samail (thunderstorm), Nizwa (thunderstorm), Al Hamra (thunderstorm), Izki (thunderstorm), Jabal Shams (thunderstorm), Liwa (thunderstorm), Suwiq (thunderstorm), Buraimi (thunderstorm), Madha (thunderstorm), Sohar Majis (thunderstorm), Khasab Port (thunderstorm), Khasab Airport (thunderstorm), Dibba (thunderstorm) and

Yanqual (thunderstorm).

The met was predicted an increase in thunderstorms over the Al Hajar Mountains during the coming days, starting today until Saturday, affecting parts of the coasts of the Sea of Oman, deserts and open separate areas of the Sultanate.
