Heavy rainfall to continue during Eid holidays, alert sounded across Oman
Thunderstorms are expected to continue during Eid Al-Adha holidays, Civil Aviation Authority said in its weather alert No3.
CAA said in a statement: “Due to heavy thundershowers that are expected to fall during Eid Al-Adha which may range from 20 to 80 millimeters within 24 hours. The Civil Aviation Authority alerts all to take precautions during thunderstorms across the warning areas and to avoid low lying areas.
In addition, CAA urges people to stay alert to the status of sea and take action to avoid rough seas.
Here are the details for weather conditions in upcoming days :
Saturday 09/07/2022 : Clouds advection over most of the Sultanate with partly cloudy skies and chance of isolated rain. Gradually the intensity of the rainfall will increase during afternoon and evening over mountainous parts of Governorates of Muscat , Dhofar , South al Sharqiya , North Al Sharqiya , Al Dakhiliyah , South Al Batinah , North Al Batinah , Al Dhahira and Al Buraimi governorates.
Expected impacts :
Thundershowers within the range of 20 – 60 mm, which may cause flow of some wadis ( flash floods ) with chances of hail.
Fresh downdraft winds within the speed range of 30 – 70 km/hr, which can cause unstable objects to fly.
Decreased horizontal visibility due to the thundershowers and duststorms.
Rough sea over Arabian Sea coastal areas with maximum wave height of 4.0 meters and moderate along the coastal areas of Oman Sea with maximum of 2 meters.
Sunday ( 10/7/2022 ) and Monday ( 11/7/2022 ) :
During Sunday , the chances of thundershowers will increase over most of the Sultanate and gradually during Monday the effect of this weather events will decrease with chances of isolated rain over the Sultanate and chances of isolated thundershowers over AL Hajar Mountains and Dhofar governorate.
Expected impacts:
Precipitation within the range of 30 – 80 mm, which may cause flow of some wadis ( flash floods ) with chances of hail.
Fresh downdraft winds within the speed range of 40 – 80 km /hr, which can cause unstable objects to fly.
Decreased horizontal visibility due to thundershowers and dust storms.
Rough sea condition over Arabian Sea coastal areas with maximum height of 4.0 meters and moderate along the coastal areas of Oman Sea with maximum of 2 meters.

Wadi Darbat road closed
The Royal Oman Police has closed the road leading to Wadi Darbat Park in Dhofar Governorate, from today until further notice.
The Royal Oman Police said: “Due to the heavy rains and the possibility of a rise in the water level in Wadi Darbat in the Dhofar Governorate, and for the safety of the place’s visitors and public safety, the road leading to Wadi Darbat Park will be closed from today until further notice, may God protect everyone.”

CDAA rescues person trapped in valley
Rescue teams managed to rescue a person who was trapped in a valley in the Wilayat of Sohar
The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance said: “The authority received a report about the detention of a person in a wadi stream in Saih Al Makarem area in the Wilayat of Sohar. Rescue teams in the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in North Al Batinah Governorate managed to rescue him, and he is in good health.”
