As more wadi mishaps have taken place, the authorities have asked parents to be vigilant about their children venturing out to play in water spots. The warning comes after the tragic incident in Al Mudhaibi in the Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah on Monday. Three children were rescued, and two were in critical condition, while the sixth child died.
On Tuesday, the body of one of the missing persons was found in Al Mughsail Beach by the water rescue team at the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in Dhofar Governorate. While the search continued for four missing persons, body of one of the three missing children was found at Al Mughsail Beach.
The search for three other missing persons was still underway.
Earlier in the day, a force from the National Search and Rescue Team of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority had headed to Dhofar Governorate to support the search and rescue teams in Al Mughsail.
The authority’s teams been deployed in various governorates in order to secure the sites frequented by tourists because the places are affected by the weather, and to provide advice and guidance to protect the people from danger.

RAINS EXPECTED
Meanwhile, meteorologist Mohammed al Mishaiqi from Oman Met Office said cloud cover continues in many parts of the governorates and scattered rains are expected. Al Hajar Mountains will see continuation of local cloud development.
“For now there is a thunder cell between Sur and Qurayat, which is expected to bring in rain. The movement is west to southwest,” Mohammed said on Tuesday morning.
The CDAA said Wadi Bani Ghafir, Wadi Bani Hinai, Wadi Al Qabeel, Wadi Mizaheet, Wadi Al Thunaei, Wadi Al Hoqain and Wadi Bani Kharous (Al Awabi) are all flowing.
On Monday, along Al Hajar Mountains there were thunderstorms along it’s adjoining areas and this also included Al Rustaq.
“There was heavy rain between Nakhal and Al Rustaq, as a result flash floods led to the flow of wadis,” said Mohammed.
There has been a special request to parents to monitor their children to prevent them from swimming in wadis or play at any of the water spots.
Social media continued to show children diving into wadis and swim along the water force.
The authorities have highlighted the dangers and throughout the Eid holidays there have been mishaps.
The local cloud development is expected the bring more rain in the next two days.
On Tuesday, Dhofar is expected to continue with monsoon drizzle as well as chances for isolated rain; Al Wusta Governorate is also under the cloud cover and can experience isolated rain and there are chances that Muscat Governorate could also receive light rain.
The Arabian Sea continues to be rough recording a wave height of 4 meters and rest of Oman’s coasts are categorised as moderate with a wave height of 1.5 metres.
