SALALAH: The Second Arab Forum for Tourism and Heritage, held in Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman, announced the selection of khareef Salalah as the best Arab tourist destination in the Arab world for the year 2022.
Dr Sultan al Yahyai, head of the Arab Centre for Tourism Media and head of the forum, confirmed that the experts and specialists in the tourism sector participating in the forum chose khareef Salalah as the best tourist destination in the Arab world for the year 2022.
The selection came due to the distinctive and diverse tourist sites that the Governorate of Dhofar has during this season of the year.
In addition to the activities being held in the khareef season, the governorate has an exceptional atmosphere, which contributes to attracting local, Gulf and Arab tourism during the season.
Al Yahyai pointed out that khareef Salalah attracts Arab tourists through Salalah Airport, which has been developed and expanded to receive a large number of daily flights.
Al Yahyai said: “The Governorate of Dhofar offers many picturesque natural areas, whether mountainous, marine or desert, in addition to the cold weather during the summer months”.
Al Yahyai stated that the continuous development of khareef Salalah activities aims to double the number of tourists coming to the governorate, and also aims to sustain the tourism movement throughout the year, not just the autumn months.
The two-day forum was attended by a number of specialists in the tourism industry in the Arab world as well as more than 100 journalists specialising in tourism media of the Gulf and Arab countries.
