The Eritrean National Volleyball Federation will host the FIVB Level 2 Coaches Course which is sponsored by Olympic Solidarity. Oman’s FIVB International Volleyball coach instructor, Dr Shihab Aldin bin Ahmed al Riyami, will present the training course which begins on Thursday at ASMARA Eritrea Training Centre. The course, which will be attended by 38 coaches, will run for a duration of five days (eight hours daily) of theoretical and practical sessions.
Euro-Asia coaching programme group expert at Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) said that this will be my first presence in Africa to present a FIVB international mission and International course.
“I am very glad to deliver this course which assists coaches to improve their skills and also to support Eritrean future plans in volleyball. I am pretty sure that the Eritrean National Volleyball Federation is working hard to improve the talent of coaches and building a coaching programme in enhancing knowledge and skill. Also, this kind of course provides a golden opportunity for African coaches to enable them to acquire the required knowledge and experience which will reflect on the game and the players when they lead technically in clubs and national teams,” Dr Shihab added.
A total of 38 coaches representing former national players, sporting teachers at school/university, physical education and club coaches will take part in this course. The nationality of the learners in this course are from Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Sudan. A set of theoretical and practical sessions are arranged for the participant and will cover fundamentals of volleyball, coaching skills, physical conditioning, training and the basics of mini-volleyball. The venue is set with all required facilities.
“Even though I received invitations previously from many African volleyball federations including South Africa, Rwanda and the Republic of Mauritius to lead a volleyball development coaching programme, this will be my first experience in Africa, and I am interested in this as we can learn from African volleyball schools,” he added.
The Development Committee Head at Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) recently concluded FIVB Level 2 Coaches Course in Saudi Arabia.
