MUSCAT, August 8: Revenues from 3-5-star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman increased significantly by 121.4 per cent as of the end of June 2022 to RO 83.360 million compared to the same period in 2021.
The monthly statistical bulletin of tourism indicators issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the number of guests of hotels rated (3-5) stars increased by 44.6 per cent until the end of last June to reach more than 770,000 guests, while the occupancy rate of these hotels recorded 25.1 per cent.
The number of GCC guests recorded the largest growth of 875.7 per cent to reach 61,863, up from 6,340 during the corresponding period of 2021. European guests saw their numbers surge 756 per cent to 185K this year, up from 21,648 inmates during the Jan – June period of 2021. Omani guests rose 7.5 per cent to 348K this year, up from 377K last year.
Significantly, as many as 27K visitors from the Americas stayed at luxury hotels in Oman during the first six months of the year, representing a growth of around 200 per cent from last year’s levels. Tourists from African countries totalled around 3,900, which was up 94.6 per cent from the previous year’s figure. Guests from Asian countries increased 21.4 per cent to 92K this year, up from 76K last year. — (ONA)
