Muscat: Gen Sultan Mohammed al Nuamani, Minister of the Royal Office, received here on Sunday Tim Lenderking, the United States (US) Special Envoy for Yemen.
During the meeting, Lenderking conveyed US President Biden’s thanks to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the success of Omani endeavours to get the Yemeni truce extended, along with the president’s appreciation for the Sultanate of Oman’s support for efforts exerted by the United Nations and the United States to find a permanent and peaceful solution for the Yemeni crisis.
The meeting was attended by the US Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, the US Ambassador to Yemen and the delegation accompanying the guest.
The meeting also discussed UN proposals to expand and stabilize the provisions of the truce, as well as the efforts to tackle pressing humanitarian and economic issues in Yemen. It was agreed to continue joint action in this regard.
Gen Al Nuamani thanked the US Special Envoy for his efforts in this respect. He affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman will keep up its stance, in partnership with all parties concerned, to reach a final and comprehensive settlement and to establish permanent peace and security.
