Rehabilitation work intensifies in flood-affected areas

Authorities have intensified their efforts in restoring services, especially roads, in the wilayats that were affected by the recent climatic conditions.

Several corporate houses have also announced their support to help those affected by damages from heavy rains.

The Board of Directors of Omantel recently approved a donation of RO 150,000 to help restore services and help those affected by the recent heavy rainfall in the wilayats of South Al Batinah Governorate.

The donation comes as part of the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in such extraordinary circumstances.

Bank Nizwa also provided aid to flood-stricken communities in Al Rustaq and Al Awabi in response to the severe flooding that struck the area.

The bank pledged RO 40,000 to support impacted people and companies in the two wilayats. “Our commitment to giving back to our community is a core pillar of Bank Nizwa’s operations. Since CSR is an integral part of the way we do business, we strive to help those in need. In light of the floods in Al Rustaq and Al Awabi, the Board of Directors decided to contribute and support the communities affected,” said Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of Bank Nizwa.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is working on the implementation of 140 projects for the maintenance of aflaj, auxiliary wells in various governorates, including those affected by Cyclone Shaheen.

Work on the falaj system has been under way in the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, North Al Sharqiyah and Al Buraimi.

The authorities in South Al Batinah Governorate recently confirmed that it has reopened all roads affected by the climatic conditions, which will help in facilitating movement between various villages.
