MUSCAT: As part of its continuous support for renewable development projects in the Sultanate, Muscat University announced the launch of new academic programmes, including the Master of Renewable Energy Engineering which is offered for the first time in the Sultanate. In addition, a further eight new programmes will be offered in the academic year 2021/2022.
These programmes consist of master’s, bachelor’s, advanced diplomas, and diplomas in the fields of Transportation, Logistics, Engineering, Information Technology and Business Management. All programmes are designed to meet the needs of the Omani labour market. The Faculty of Engineering is offering students the opportunity to study for a diploma, advanced diploma, or bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and energy engineering. While the faculty of Business and Management provides a diploma, an advanced diploma and bachelor’s qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and Marketing.
The university is working towards offering a professional doctorate in business administration in association with a reputable UK university which will be the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman
In this regard, Khalil bin Abdullah al Khonji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Muscat University, said: “From the beginning Muscat University set out to provide a high-quality academic experience for its students aligned with the needs of a global economy forging pioneering paths in higher education. The founders and members of the Board of Directors worked on strategies to enhance the educational services provided by the university in order to reach a high level of academic quality and research output. The launch of this new suite of programmes reflects the continuous development and modernisation of the Sultanate based on the country’s development plans.”
Professor Khamis bin Hamad al Yahyai, Vice Chancellor of Muscat University, commented: “We are very happy with this launch of new programmes and specialisations, some of which are being introduced for the first time in the Sultanate. The new programmes came after a thorough study of market needs listening to the aspirations and desires of partners and the business community in line with the objectives of The Sultanate’s Vision 2040. The programs were designed to meet the needs of a diversified and sustainable economy based on knowledge and innovation in undergraduate and postgraduate studies.”
