Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation organises meeting

Muscat: Mawarid (Oman Animal and Plant Genetic Resources Center) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation organised an open meeting event (dialogue session) on Manafa’a 2022 Program at Innovation Park Muscat on 17 August.

For this year, Manafa’a 2022 Program, organised by Mawarid and the Environment Authority and sponsored by Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO) as the main sponsor and Vale in Oman as the golden sponsor, is under the theme of climate change and air pollution to support and encourage ideas that would contribute to reducing air pollution and climate change.

The dialogue session included providing detailed information about Manafa’a Program, which is a platform that provides researchers, interested parties and entrepreneurs in Oman with the opportunity to develop and present their innovative business ideas based on protecting the environment, preserving its natural resources and biodiversity, and helping them to transform these ideas into real commercial projects that are viable and translated into reality as well as encouraging the establishment of start-up companies based on benefiting from applied research in the field of genetic resources and building public awareness about the investment opportunities available from biodiversity.

The open meeting, which was broadcast live on Mawarid’s official YouTube channel, was attended by Abdullah bin Ali Al Rawahi, Assistant Director of Mawarid (Oman Animal and Plant Genetic Resources  Centre) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Kalbani, Acting Director General ofEnvironmental Affairs at the Environment Authority, and Mr. Ibrahim bin Ahmed Al Ajmi, Advisor at the Civil Aviation Authority. The session was moderated by Dr. Almutasimbin Mohammed Al Mamari.

It is worth noting that the registration door for participation is still open for Manafa’a 2022 Program. Interested applicants can register through Mawarid’s official website (www.mawarid.gov.om/manafaa) until 22ndof September 2022.
