The Oman Football Association (OFA) has unveiled the preparatory programme of Oman national football team for the forthcoming period.
The OFA announced on their official account at twitter platform that Red Warriors will be back to action on September 11 with a domestic camp. The internal gathering of the team will run for one week duration in Muscat ahead of travelling to Jordan on September 18.
In Amman city, the Red Warriors will take part in an international friendly tournament starting from September 23. The tournament will feature the participation of Oman, hosts Jordan, Iraq and Syria teams.
Oman will meet Iraq on September 23 while hosts Jordan will take on Syria on the same day. The winners from each match will meet each other on September 26 while the losers will play in the third and fourth play-off game.
Oman head coach Branko Ivankovic will announce the squad of the next internal camp during next week. The 68-year-old and his coaching staff attended different matches in the top-flight league during the previous rounds including some games in third week to monitor the players technical performance. It is predicted that the squad will witness some new faces from the local clubs.
The Oman team, which was ranked in 75th place with 1,323 points in the latest Fifa Men’s world ranking in August, will have several vital assignments during next year including Arabian Gulf Cup, 2023 West Asian Championships and 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
The Red Warriors will be back to action in upcoming domestic camp in Muscat after an absence of two months. The latest presence of Oman team was in the overseas preparatory camp on June 12 in Doha city which featured two friendly games against Nepal and New Zealand.
In the first warm-up match, Oman had edged Nepal 2-0 on June 3. The Red Warriors had completed their second warm-up fixture against New Zealand on a goalless draw on June 9 at Education City Stadium.
