Bringing global technology to Oman to enhance production

“If [business is] not listening to the youth, they are not listening to their future competitors, employees, or customers,” said Wadia Ait Hamza, one of the business icons in the world.

When Oman started to also focus on the voices of the youth, it became a remarkable force that helped drive economic revolution. By empowering the youth, a dynamic workforce was activated helping in coming up with innovative solutions and out of the box ideas that diversify Oman we know today.

To find a global footing in technology especially in building and construction may seem hard in the fast but with young minds given a portion of the responsibility, the impossible became possible.

“We carry an exciting energy, enthusiasm, and creativity as a youth in what we do, thus it is a waste of human capital when these gifts are not tapped in improving businesses, letting potentials lie idle, and putting the current and future world of work in jeopardy,” said engineer Saleh bin Issa al Abri, who entered the world of technology and industry knowing that hardship in all steps would be inventible.

Al Abri, who hails from the Wilayat of Bahla in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, who had always been interested in progress in development particularly in the area of technology has succeeded in creating something worthwhile for the industry.

Specialised in the field of “electromechanics”, Al Abri used to worry that Oman is not growing fast enough when it comes to technology. He made it his goal to be able to help foster the field he has come to love by developing new things that benefit the technology surrounding his field.

His tours around the world visiting several factories gave him a crystal clear vision of the latest technologies used globally in production. He has gained important knowledge about automated industries and sustainable production lines including noteworthy processes that has less dependence on the human workforce.

Saleh, the owner of the “Tasnee” trademark, said, “Tasnee’s group of factories is an Omani brand with a specific vision, mission and goals. Its mission is to provide Omani products of international quality and competitive prices. The vision is to localise global technology to become a purely Omani industrial style.”

“We have so far been able to establish several local production lines for products that were not produced in Oman, such as manufacturing “Silo”, which specialises in the manufacture of chemical and cement tanks, with a capacity of more than 10,000 tons, and “ Rebar”, which specialises in the preparation of building columns. Every single automated line in the construction sector executes the work done by over 100 workers per day,” he shared.

He added, “Therefore, after generalising the product, the construction sector can work at a faster pace and at a lower cost. A few months back, we launched the “Roller” line that specialised in the manufacture of conveyor belts used in ports, cement factories, mines, quarries, crushers and other factories, with a production capacity of more than 1500 rolls daily. We were able in a short period to acquire a large part of the Omani market share, and actually began to acquire more than 25% of the Gulf market.”

Al Abri stressed that “Roller” is currently executing a government tender for the fish conveyor line in the fishing port of Qurayat, which is the first conveyor line to be completely designed and manufactured in the Sultanate with high quality, international standard specifications, and a competitive price.

Al Abri pointed out that among the principles of “Tasnee” is spreading the culture of local manufacturing with stable quality and low cost through the use of technology.

“Tasnee” has opened its doors to colleges, universities and individuals to benefit from the training programs available to contribute to creating a generation capable of establishing real independent industries.

“Tasnee” provides technical support for young people wishing to establish local technical industries with international specifications.

“We aspire to support our partners in ports, factories, mines, quarries and crushers by providing high-quality products at competitive prices and available local service, which means reducing production costs and supporting the trade balance by reducing revenues and supporting exports of these products. our goal during the ten coming years is to open more factories that contain production lines for innovative products that do not exist in the local market and are capable of global export,” the executive engineer said.
