NIZWA: A delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) began its evaluation visit to the Nizwa Health City project in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate on Sunday. The visit aims to recognise Nizwa as a healthy city at the level of the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
The two-day visit aims to conduct an audit and review the indicators of a healthy city that deal with developmental aspects related to health, which directly and indirectly impact human health, and the achievements made since the beginning of the project until now.
On the first day of the delegation’s visit, Shaikh Rashid bin Said bin Saif al Kalbani, Wali of Nizwa and Chairman of the Health Committee, met in his office with the visiting delegation.
A comprehensive presentation on Nizwa Health City was presented during the meeting, also attended by Dr Ali al Dhawi, Director General of Health Services for Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The delegation also met with stakeholders in the Executive Office of Nizwa Health City and reviewed organisational structures, documents, forms and research. They presented community participation strategies and changes in health and social indicators, and viewed the joint actions between the different sectors and the results achieved.
The programme included field visits to the Birkat Al Mouz Health Center, the Omani Women’s Association in Nizwa, and Tanuf School for Basic Education, as well as a visit to generate electric power with water project and several sites and development projects in the state, as well as recreational visits to several tourist sites.
The delegation will conclude its evaluation visit today, where a meeting will be held at the Creativity Center for Culture and Innovation. To discuss the observations, provide feedback, and view the progress of work and the services currently offered by the centre.
