Oman to get 3 new hospitals under 10th five-year-plan

Muscat: In support of the health priority in the 10th Five-Year Plan, the Ministry of Economy has announced the details of a number of projects in the Health sector.

The General Secretariat of the Tender Board recently floated tenders for the establishment of Al Falah Hospital in South al Sharqiyah Governorate, Al Nama Hospital in North al Sharqiyah Governorate, and the Samail Hospital in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

Details:

Al Falah Hospital South al Sharqiyah Governorate will cater to the population of Jalan Bani Bu Ali (105,0000), Jalan Bani Bu Hassan (40,000), and Al Kamil & Al Wafi (40,000).

The Samail Hospital in the Al Dakhillyah Governorate will serve 38,000 while the Al Nama Hospital in North al Sharqiyah Governorate will serve 115, 000 people of Al Mudhaibi

The area of each hospital will be around 43,078,91 square meters. Hospitals will have 150 beds that can be expanded to 300 with facilities for outpatient clinics, accidents and emergency (A&E) department, operating theaters, delivery wards, medical labs, radiology department, inpatient wards, intensive care unit (ICU), oncology unit, premature infants, care unit, services building, and renal hemodialysis unit.

The construction of the three hospitals (Al Namaa – Al Falah – Samail) is in response to the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in March 2022 to implement a number of development projects under the 10th Five Year Plan (2021-2025)

The role of the Ministry of Economy through its competencies is to set criteria for determining the priorities of development projects and methods of development planning, in order to ensure a balance between the two development dimensions: economic and social development, approve the annual development budget after the approval of the Council of Ministers.

The concerned team at the Ministry of Economy studied, evaluated, and selected the priority of implementing development projects by discussing them with the concerned at the Ministry of Health.

The 10th Five Year Development Plan approved a number of policies that achieve priority for health. including (improving the institutional framework for health care)

The adoption of the program is in line with the strategic objectives of the Health priority in the 10th Five Year development plan, specifically the following two objectives – a healthy and sustainable society in which a culture of ‘health is the responsibility of air is entrenched and individuals are protected from health dangers and threats, a decentralized health system is characterized by quality. transparency, fairness, and accountability.

These projects are expected to contribute to supporting the transformation efforts towards the development of the governorates through:

Decentralization of health services and support shift in the decentralization of the health system.

Accelerate the targets of universal health coverage. which is a strategic program within the 10th Five Year development plan programs.

Providing health services in various governorates with high efficiency, enhancing the desired local content from these projects. and ensuring greater absorption of job seekers in areas related to the health sector.
