Apollo Super Specialty Hospital, Al Hail, introduces state-of-the-art Women and Child Centre in Oman

Muscat: The dedicated woman and child centre is an exclusive unit within the multi-speciality hospital.  The dedicated service line  with  multi-speciality support can become an indispensable entity for expecting mothers and can prove to be a life-saviour for both the mother and the child’s care at all stages and beyond. V.T. Saileswaran, Managing Director, stated that  ‘we at Apollo wanted every mother and child in the Sultanate to have exclusive access to world-class healthcare. They should feel special like how they define every family. We have also considered that the aspects of women’s wellbeing and children’s wellbeing are unique, and we should address it with a dedicated unit and a specially trained team.’ The Apollo Women & Child unit is fully staffed by senior doctors from Obstetrics and Gynaecology, has foetal medicine, neonatal care, and paediatric care specialists and offering 24/7 services. The unit also has state-of-the-art PICU and Neo Natal care.

Distinguished Guest Tour
The Apollo Women & Child Unit recently had the privilege of organising a welcome tour for two eminent women who have made us all proud in Oman. Her Highness Sayyida Hujaija Al Said, Chairperson of the Oman Association for Children with Disabilities, during her visit, interacted with the first mother from Apollo Women & Child Centre, at Al Hail. She complimented the Apollo Super Speciality team for this exclusive service life. The unit also had Captain Maha Al Balushi, a pioneer lady pilot of Oman, who addressed the team and reiterated the importance of such an exclusive service line for women and children. She also spoke about the ever-increasing role of women in society.

The Women & Child Unit has the entire gynaecology and paediatrics for both the inpatients and outpatients under one roof on the same floor. The Women and Child Centre is equipped with extremely spacious birthing suites in an ambience of care, comfort, and pleasantness. The signature suites are further enhanced by a sea view, as the expectant mothers wait for the new dawn in their lives. The comfort of home with options to customise, is what makes this unit truly special. Needless to say with utmost clinical safety.  

The Lead Clinicians
The doctors’ team consists of Dr. Vandana Pandit, Senior Consultant OB-GYN, with over two and a half decades of government service experience, Dr. Ali Al Jabri, Senior Consultant Paediatric Neonatologist, Dr. Mahalakshmi Baskaran, OB-GYN Specialist, Dr. Roula Osama Almahayni OB-GYN Specialist, Dr. Shakeel Moinuddin, Specialist Paediatrician and Dr. Jayapriya Sudhakar, Specialist Paediatrician.  There is also oncology care, which is entrusted to Dr. Khadra Galaal Gynaecological Oncology.
