Muscat: The total domestic sales of refineries in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 16.8 per cent at the end of July 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Preliminary statistics indicated that the production of M95 automotive fuel increased by 11.8 per cent to reach 9.26 million barrels at the end of July 2022, compared to the same period in 2021. Sales of M95 increased slightly by 0.7 per cent to reach 7.24 million barrels. Its exports amounted to 2.74 million barrels, registering an increase of 93.1 per cent at the end of July 2022 compared to the same period of July 2021.
The production of standard grade petrol (M-91) by Oman refineries increased by 1.7 per cent, reaching 7.56 million barrels at the end of July 2022, compared to the end of July 2021. Sales of M91 amounted to 7.23 million barrels, an increase of 54.9 per cent while its exports decreased by 69.8 per cent, Oman News Agency said quoting NCSI data.
Gas oil (diesel) output during July 2022 witnessed a decrease of 14.1 per cent compared to the same period at the end of July 2021 to reach 18.22 million barrels. Sales of diesel increased by 9 per cent to reach 8.36 million.
As for petrochemicals, polypropylene exports and production witnessed a remarkable increase of 46.5 per cent and 19.7 per cent, respectively, while its sales decreased by 39.3 per cent at the end of July 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year.
On the other hand, gasoline production and exports decreased by 79.1 per cent and 78.4 per cent, respectively, and paraxylene production and exports by 94.8 per cent and 93.3 per cent, respectively, at the end of July 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.
