Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in the field of social responsibility, to provide training services, rehabilitation and employment for people with disabilities in Oman.
The gesture lends support to the disabled through an on-the-job training initiative codenamed “Be With Us”, which was launched under the auspices of Dr Laila Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.
The first MoU encourages establishments licenced by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) to train and provide employment for the disabled. It was signed by Dr Laila and Tahir Salim al Amri, CBO Executive President.
The minister also signed the 2nd MoU with Eng Omar Hamdan al Islmaili, CEO of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
The 3rd MoU was signed by Shamsa Ahmed al Hosni, the ministry’s Director General of Planning and Studies, and Mahmoud Khalfan al Araimi, Director General of Omanisation and Talents at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The 4th MoU was signed by Hamoud Mardad al Shabibi, Director General of the Disabled’s Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development, and Dr Zahran Salim al Salti, Dean of the College of Banking and Financial Studies.
The 5th MoU was signed by the ministry’s Director General of Planning and Studies and Abdulrahman Humaid al Yahyaee, CEO of Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL).
The 6th MoU was inked by the ministry’s Director General of the Disabled’s Affairs and Eng Awatif al Salman from the Specialized Centre for Human Building and Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities.
