CAIRO: Dr. Abdullah Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information, affirmed that the cooperation and contact between the journalists in the Sultanate of Oman and their counterparts in Egypt, is crucial for reflecting the developments in both countries and fostering the joint visions that aim at enhancing the message of construction and spreading awareness undertaken by the media.
At a forum held on Saturday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo and attended by senior writers, literati, intellectuals and editors of Egyptian publications, the minister of information stressed that the bilateral relationship between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt in the media field is special, old and renewed day in day out.
The minister added that Egypt has had a significant role through various stages of development of the Omani media and many Egyptian writers are still contributing insightful articles in various domains of knowledge.
Right now, our goal is elevating this relationship to a higher level and creating communication among the new generations of journalists particularly upon taking into account the new developments in the media field in terms of the introduction of new technologies and modern means of communications which necessitates the creation new forms of joint media, the minister said.
Oman strongly made its presence felt in the Egyptian media. This is something that we view with deep attention and we are striving to develop. The Omani media follows the developments currently underway in Egypt i.e the comprehensive development process prudently and insightfully led by Abdel Fattah El Sisi, of the Arab Republic of Egypt. In addition, the Omani people are following the developments in the fields of media, economy, thought and culture taking place in Egypt, the minister said.
The Omani minister of information noted that the Omani and the Egyptian media share a responsible and disciplined media message that is undertaken by journalists in both countries. It’s a lofty message that further fosters an already strong rapprochement between the Omani and the Egyptian peoples.
The Egyptian journalists expressed their utmost happiness over their meeting with Oman’s minister of information, stressing that such a meeting would strengthen the role of the media in fostering the relationship between the two peoples as well as spreading culture, thought and enhancing exchange of expertise between the media houses in both countries.
