THE HAGUE: With the participation of more than 70 diplomatic missions, the Embassy of Oman in the Kingdom of Netherlands took part in the annual Embassies Festival on Saturday. The festival is a meeting point for many diverse cultures.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, Shaikh Dr Abdullah bin Salim al Harthy, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Netherlands, said that the Sultanate’s pavilion witnessed a wide turnout from the ambassadors of the participating countries as well as from various groups of the Dutch society and the communities in the Netherlands.
Al Harthy stressed the importance of the festival and the Sultanate’s annual participation in it, as it represents an opportunity to introduce the Sultanate in several aspects, including cultural, tourism and economic aspects, praising the efforts of Omani students and residents and their role in the success of the Sultanate’s participation in this event.
The opening of the festival was sponsored by Jan van Zanen, Mayor of The Hague, who, during his visit to the Sultanate’s pavilion, expressed his admiration for the traditional exhibits and musical performances presented by Omani youth in the pavilion, expressing his hope that he will have the opportunity to visit the Sultanate and get to know it closely. Omani local products such as frankincense, dates, sweets, traditional dishes and others were very popular with visitors to the Sultanate’s pavilion.
The festival is an important event in the Kingdom of Netherlands and is being organised in The Hague and has a great turnout for the multiplicity of roles it plays in stimulating and promoting the tourism and providing the opportunity for embassies to introduce their countries, which would represent an important bridge to link different cultures and civilisations.
