Muscat: King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Queen Rania al Abdullah arrived here on Tuesday on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman lasting two days.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Jordanian Monarch. When the jet of King Abdullah II touched ground at the Royal Airport, His Majesty the Sultan met the guest at the foot of the ramp, welcoming him and wishing him and the accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in Oman.
Along with His Majesty the Sultan, King Abdullah II was received by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister (Head of the Mission of Honour), Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shibani, Minister of Education (Escort of the Queen), Shaikh Hilal bin Marhoon al Maamari, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Amjad al Qahaiwi, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Sultanate of Oman and members of the mission of honour.
Then, His Majesty the Sultan and the Jordanian Monarch proceeded to the reception hall, passing between two rows of the guard of honour of the Royal Guard of Oman, as Her Highness the Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman welcomed the King, the Queen and the Crown Prince of Jordan.
After a short stay, the motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan and his guest, King Abdullah II Ibn al Hussein, left the Royal Airport heading to Al Alam Palace for an official reception ceremony.
Before the arrival of the main vehicle of the motorcade at Al Alam Palace, a squadron of cavalry lined the two sides of the road heading to the gate of the palace.
Upon the arrival of the motorcade of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Abdullah II at the entrance of Al Alam Palace, the RGO band played a welcoming tune to the accompaniment of trumpets, as the motorcade entered the courtyard of Al Alam Palace.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied King of Jordan to the Dais of Honour where the Royal Anthem of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was played, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute for the guest.
Then, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the Jordanian Monarch, welcoming them and wishing them a pleasant stay.
On his turn, King Abdullah II of Jordan shook hands with some members of the Royal Family, Chairmen of the State Council and Shura Council, ministers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the guest proceeded to the hall where they took Arabian coffee.
King Abdullah II Ibn al Hussein is accompanied during the visit by an official delegation comprising Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Jordan, Dr Bisher al Khasawneh, Prime Minister, Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jaafar Hassan, Director of the King’s Office, Amjad Al Qahaiwi, Ambassador of Jordan to Oman and some officials.
