A conference to discuss the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy and society will start at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) on Monday, organized by the Humanitarian Research Center and represented by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Research Chair for Economic Studies.
Qais bin Mohammed al Yousuf, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, will be attended the conference.
“The conference comes within a series of events held by the university and will continue for three days,” said Dr. Majid bin Saeed al Busafi, director of the center and head of the conference’s main committee, adding that it aims to bring together scholars, researchers, and policymakers from various sectors to discuss policy measures taken by governments and individuals to mitigate the economic and social consequences of the pandemic or any such crises that may occur in the future.
The conference is an international platform for exchanging views, visions, and experiences on the economic, financial, social, and other effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and other sectors.
The main topics are the impact of the pandemic on the economy, business, and society, in addition to its impact on financial policies, international trade, logistics, public policy, and global responses to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The conference will also evaluate the effectiveness of the political measures taken by governments to mitigate the social and economic consequences of the pandemic.
